About the customer
Bangchak Corporation Public Company Limited is a Thai energy company that
operates in tandem with socio-environmental responsibility. Its core business is
petroleum refining to produce high-standard products from domestic and
international sources.
Bangchak Corporation entered a new phase of growth following a major acquisition
and as it prepared for accelerated expansion. With the acquisition complete, the
company’s priority shifted to operating as one organisation while modernizing a
complex digital landscape supported by long-standing legacy systems. Leadership
recognised that existing systems needed to be stabilised and prepared to support
future growth, increased scale, and more data-driven operations.
As Suwat Meemook, Executive Vice President, Digital Organization, explains: “Our full
team was moving to implement SAP S/4HANA. So, we needed help from a partner
who understands our processes and could step in quickly to keep operations running
smoothly.” Maintaining operational continuity while rebuilding the digital foundation
became essential to keeping the business moving forward.
Partnership in motion
To support Bangchak during this transition, Fujitsu delivered Application Managed
Services for SAP ECC 6.0, ensuring stability across two large ERP environments while
the organisation progressed toward SAP S/4HANA. Fujitsu’s team brought deep SAP
expertise along Rise with SAP and a strong understanding of Bangchak’s business
processes, enabling rapid response and dependable day-to-day operations.
The collaboration extended beyond system maintenance. Fujitsu supported Bangchak
as it assessed a complex landscape of 20+ surrounding systems and made informed
decisions, identifying those to maintain and those requiring new architecture for the
future. As Meemook notes: “Fujitsu helped us quite a lot, not only maintaining SAP
ECC 6 but also understanding and supporting the S/4HANA direction. It’s a plus-plus
for us.”
Realizing future potential
With core systems stabilised, Bangchak was able to focus on preparing its digital
foundation for the next phase of growth. While the SAP S/4HANA program is still
underway, the groundwork is being laid to improve data accessibility, enable
advanced analytics, and support AI-driven use cases across the organisation.
In parallel, Bangchak has upskilled more than 1,000 employees in AI literacy and
introduced practical generative AI tools into daily operations. Early results include
productivity improvements of around 15 percent and increased efficiency in
customer-facing services through AI-powered chatbots. As Meemook emphasizes:
“We are laying the foundation for the future. With a good platform for growth, we can
go faster and bigger.” This future-ready foundation positions Bangchak to grow
faster, integrate new businesses seamlessly, and drive innovation with sustainability
at its core.
