A sudden need for independence
When an Estonian electronics manufacturer separated from its parent company, it faced an urgent need to establish an independent ERP environment. Its SAP system had been fully operated and controlled by headquarters, leaving the local team without access, architectural insight, or ownership. The company needed to stand up a fully functioning system in Estonia within an extremely tight timeframe—without disrupting production.
“We suddenly had to take over something we had never fully seen or controlled,” recalls the SAP Project Manager at Estonian electronics manufacturer. “At the same time, the system is so critical that even a short interruption would have stopped production entirely.”
The complexity was amplified by the sheer volume of product and operational data, differences in platform architecture between headquarters and the Estonian entity, and limited internal IT capacity. With just a one-week migration window during a planned factory shutdown, the risks of data loss, operational failure, or prolonged downtime were significant.
