Recycling of Electronic Waste

Electronic waste is a growing environmental concern. Individual states within the United States have enacted legislation to address this issue, and Fujitsu is actively complying with the varied requirements.

California

California e-waste law took effect on January 1, 2005, and requires charging customers a fee at the time of purchase to cover recycling of certain electronics products at the end of the product's useful life.

Under the California Electronic Waste Recycling Act of 2003 (known as SB20), retailers selling certain electronic products must now collect a recycling fee from California consumers at the time of purchase. This fee is used to foster the development of recycling opportunities and offset the cost of properly managing these types of products at the end of their useful lives. Destruction and Sanitization of Data

Data Security

Fujitsu cares about Customer data safety and security. That’s why Fujitsu strongly recommends customers completely wipe data from hard drives prior to sending the device to recycling… This step will provide additional assurance that data is properly disposed of. While Fujitsu requests its recycling partners to destroy data on devices received as critical criteria within the recycling program, taking this additional step is a good best practice.
