About the customer

Ken Wilson Meats is a Wellington-based New Zealand meat wholesaler and procurement business within the Preston Corp Group. The company supplies beef, lamb, pork, smallgoods, and branded meat products to wholesale, retail, supermarket, and food service customers across New Zealand.

Information drives every decision

New Zealand’s meat industry moves quickly. For Ken Wilson Meats, having accurate, timely information across inventory, procurement, sales, and finance is essential to making sound decisions and responding to changing market conditions.

The company had relied successfully on earlier generations of ERP technology for many years. However, support for its existing platform was coming to an end, while maintaining on-premises infrastructure was becoming increasingly restrictive.

Ken Wilson Meats needed to reduce its dependence on local servers, give employees greater flexibility, and move to a system that could develop alongside the business.

For Procurement and Operations Manager Roy Zeier, the goal was clear: give employees the information they needed to make better decisions, wherever they were working.

A trusted partnership built on industry expertise

When the time came to modernise, Ken Wilson Meats chose to continue its longstanding relationship with Fujitsu.

The company valued Fujitsu’s understanding of both its business and the wider New Zealand meat industry. That experience helped the project team address the operational requirements and sector-specific challenges involved in the migration.

The new solution combines Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central with MeatPro Cloud, which provides functionality designed specifically for meat-processing businesses. Together, the platforms support Ken Wilson Meats’ operational and financial
processes within a modern cloud environment.

The project was delivered collaboratively, covering discovery, testing, user training, and data migration. Regular communication and rapid issue resolution helped build confidence throughout the implementation and kept the transition on track.

Ready for what’s next

The clearest test came after go-live.

Following a Saturday cutover, employees returned on Monday and continued working as usual. Core processes remained available, allowing the business to maintain momentum from the start.

“We changed over on the Saturday. Monday morning, business was just going on as normal,” said Roy Zeier.

Today, Ken Wilson Meats benefits from faster access to information and a modern cloud platform built for the future. With a strong digital foundation in place, the company is ready to embrace AI, analytics and automation while adapting to new opportunities.

In a fast-moving industry, that’s what being ready for Monday morning really means.
