Raf Ganseman on shaping tomorrow's consulting
At Uvance Wayfinders, we are a diverse group of talented consultants, leveraging our expertise and experience to solve our clients’ challenges and unlock business value. This series discusses who we are, why we are here, and how we, as individuals and as a business, bring value to both our clients and to society.
Here we hear from Raf Ganseman, Partner for Uvance Wayfinders in Benelux as he discusses how Wayfinders is forging a new path in consulting that will offer transformative impact through a connected and forward-looking framework.
Your journey so far
My career started in banking, where I quickly saw the digital revolution's impact, leading me to digital transformation consulting. My early consulting work focused on emerging technologies and contributing to a bank's large-scale AI assistant, integrating AI into B2C operations. I then expanded into the public sector, specializing in data interoperability and creating shareable government data solutions.
Later, I led consulting for Belgium and Luxembourg at Atos, diversifying into manufacturing with a strong AI and data focus. A key achievement was helping the Flemish Government establish its AI competence centre, accelerating AI use case development. I also secured major European consulting contracts and built resilient consulting teams.
More recently, I’ve built and scaled an AI and data practice for EY, developing AI go-to-market strategies. My projects included document intelligence and generative AI for a construction company, and foundational AI solutions for a major pharmaceutical firm.
The spark behind joining Wayfinders
I joined Wayfinders because I believe the consulting industry is going through a foundational shift from simply providing resources and ideas to delivering tangible outcomes and value creation. The traditional model of growth is evolving, and Wayfinders, as a strategic initiative of Fujitsu, is at the forefront of this change.
What attracted me was Wayfinders' commitment to end-to-end advisory services, leveraging deep sector, functional, and technological expertise, and then seamlessly moving into implementation and integration. This comprehensive approach, combined with Fujitsu's strong reputation for principled, society-focused, and sustainable innovation, aligns perfectly with my personal values and professional aspirations. It's an opportunity to be part of a foundational shift in how consulting is done.
What makes Wayfinders stand out?
Wayfinders' distinctive edge lies in its commitment to building a consulting practice tailored for the present, rather than rehashing past models. This means focusing squarely on delivering concrete outcomes and value creation, a departure from simply providing ideas. Its appeal is rooted in the unique advantage of Fujitsu's comprehensive ecosystem: deep sector and technological expertise, direct access to cutting-edge R&D, and robust end-to-end capabilities spanning advisory to implementation. This integrated approach, combined with Fujitsu's renowned reputation for principled, society-focused, and sustainable innovation, sets Wayfinders apart. It enables us to forge a new path in consulting, offering transformative impact through a truly connected and forward-looking framework.
Your vision for impact
Drawing from over a decade of consulting experience, I will bring a principled and best-practice approach to Wayfinders, focusing on being a truly transformational partner for clients. My core contribution will be an unwavering emphasis on value creation, moving beyond mere cost efficiency. This involves developing quantifiable business cases and ensuring all proposed solutions are realistic, implementable, and drive end-to-end impact.
I offer a dual perspective on the intersection of technology and corporate strategy: assessing AI's impact on business while also evaluating a client's overarching technology strategy. Furthermore, I am committed to developing "living" roadmaps and portfolios alongside clients, translating strategic ideas into actionable plans rather than just delivering presentations. This hands-on, outcome-driven approach will empower Wayfinders to deliver meaningful and sustainable change for its clients.
Creating value beyond business
I aim to provide value by forging transparent, purposeful partnerships with customers, jointly building solutions with precision and unwavering quality. My commitment to integrity ensures positive client relationships, fostering a realistic and measurable collaborative environment in every engagement.
Beyond client work, I strive to inspire and empower colleagues within Wayfinders and Fujitsu. As a mentor, I want to help them see beyond daily tasks, focusing on the broader impact of their work. For society, my goal is to champion sustainable innovation, aligning with Fujitsu's core principles. This means pursuing innovation not just for its own sake, but for its meaningful and lasting positive contribution to the world.
