Fsas Technologies Inc.
Powering Innovation Through High-Value Hardware Solutions
Fsas Technologies Inc. has been officially launched as a specialized Business Unit under Fujitsu Research of India Pvt. Ltd. (FRIPL) to drive innovation, reliability, and customer-centricity in hardware solutions. This strategic move is aligned with Fujitsu’s global transformation journey under its 2030 Vision and Mid-Term Management Plan to become a net-positive, purpose-driven technology leader.
Core Focus Areas:
Server and Storage Hardware
Fsas leads the end-to-end lifecycle of high-performance infrastructure solutions, including:
-
PRIMERGY PC Servers
- PRIMEQUEST Mission-Critical IA Servers
- ETERNUS Storage Systems
Network and Communication Hardware
Development and support for:
- IPCOM Network Servers
- Maintenance of select network products from strategic partners
- Enterprise PC Solutions
- Direct sales and servicing of enterprise PCs, ensuring continuity and quality for business customers
While Fsas focuses on the product lifecycle of hardware, Fujitsu Limited continues to provide system integration (SI), managed services, and infrastructure services, ensuring a comprehensive, end-to-end digital transformation journey for our customers.
Why FRIPL Fsas?
FRIPL Fsas significantly contributes to the Composable Disaggregated Infrastructure (CDI) solution. Specifically, we develop the Location Abstraction Layer, which hides the physical location details of PCIe or CXL components within resource pools. This abstraction enhances scalability. Furthermore, we create user-friendly Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs) to simplify complex CDI workflows for our customers.
What is PRIMERGY CDI?
- A next-gen Composable Disaggregated Infrastructure (CDI) built around Fujitsu's PRIMERGY servers, external PCIe boxes (housing GPUs, SSDs, etc.), and high speed fabric interconnects.
- Resources like GPUs and storage are pooled separately and dynamically shared among servers according to workload demands.
Core Benefits
1. Flexible, on-demand resource allocation
- Dynamically assemble logical servers with needed resources—like adding more GPUs for AI training, then scaling back for inference ─ reducing waste.
- With Red Hat OpenShift integration in V1.1, autoscaling monitors workloads and automatically adjusts resource allocation per containerized server.
2. High utilization & efficiency
- Shared pools ensure resources aren't idle under changing workloads.
- Consolidated hardware yields better power efficiency and reduced overall consumption.
3. Supercomputer-grade scalability & reliability
- Inherits advanced technologies from high-performance computing for fault isolation and manageable large-scale deployments.
- GPU scalability tests (ResNet training using NVIDIA A100) demonstrate near-linear performance up to 10 GPUs (~95% linear) and support up to 20 GPUs.
Ideal Use Cases
- Private clouds/IaaS: Supports multi-tenant environments with per-tenant autoscaling, aiding in eliminating idle resources.
- Big Data & AI workloads: Easily reconfigure GPU density per task—e.g., concentrate multiple GPUs for training or allocate individually for inference.
- Edge AI & green computing: Proven in PoC for telco edge (with Fujitsu, NTT, NVIDIA) enabling real-time inference with high performance and energy efficiency.
Summary of Value
- Resource Optimization: Maximizes hardware usage by sharing modular resources dynamically.
- Scalable AI: Supports linear GPU scaling—ideal for workloads from AI training to inference.
- Automation-Ready: Autoscaling with container orchestration (OpenShift) reduces manual operations.
- Energy Efficient & Resilient: Delivers power savings plus HPC-level reliability and component redundancy.
Fujitsu's PRIMERGY CDI offers a versatile, efficient, and scalable infrastructure that fits modern demands—from private cloud environments to AI-driven, energy-conscious edge deployments. Its key strengths lie in composable pools, autoscaling orchestration, near-linear GPU performance scaling, and robust reliability.
