Turning AI ambition into organizational reality

At Uvance Wayfinders, we are a diverse group of talented consultants, leveraging our expertise and experience to solve our clients’ challenges and unlock business value. This series discusses who we are, why we are here, and how we, as individuals and as a business, bring value to both our clients and to society.

Patricia Matias is a Senior Consultant at Uvance Wayfinders, specializing in AI‑enabled transformation with a focus on organizational and workforce impact. Her experience spans management consulting, technology, and climate innovation, including work with Google’s Climate Operations team and the commercialization of climate‑tech ventures. She is driven by the belief that technology delivers its greatest value when grounded in how people learn, work, and make decisions.

Your journey so far

My career has been shaped by a recurring question: how do systems - economic and organizational - actually work for people? I began in education technology and workforce development in Southeast Asia, where I saw how policy and market forces shape access to opportunity in very real ways. That experience stayed with me as I moved into strategy consulting, working with organizations as they navigate complex transitions.

Along the way, I pursued an MBA and MPA at MIT and Harvard, where I developed a deeper interest in leadership and the future of work. During my MBA internship at Google, I focused on data and climate solutions, working with teams to make long-term goals workable on the ground.

Across sectors and geographies, one theme has remained consistent. Lasting change happens when technology is designed with human systems in mind, and when leaders are willing to rethink how work gets done.

The spark behind joining Wayfinders

What drew me to Wayfinders was its clarity of intent. The firm is not simply applying advanced technology to business problems. It is asking and navigating how organizations should evolve as AI and automation reshape how work gets done.

I was especially drawn to Wayfinders’ human-centered approach to transformation. Rather than treating people as an afterthought, Wayfinders places workforce, culture, and leadership at the core of strategy. That perspective closely mirrors my own experience across technology and social impact. At the same time, I was excited by the opportunity to build AI solutions grounded in real business and economic value. In a sea of AI hype, Wayfinders offered the chance to unlock value quickly, across different industries and tangible use cases, and to do so with rigor and responsibility. That combination made the opportunity uniquely compelling for me.

What makes Wayfinders stand out?

What stands out to me about Wayfinders is how grounded the work feels. The firm takes an integrated view of transformation, considering strategy, technology, and people together rather than in isolation. That approach reflects how change actually happens inside organizations.

I saw this come to life in my first client project. Rather than stopping at experimentation, the work focused on building capabilities that fit how the organization operates day to day. This matters to our clients. When technology is introduced with a clear understanding of context, it earns trust and delivers real value. By staying focused on execution and outcomes, Wayfinders helps organizations make change that is both practical and lasting.

Your vision for impact

Looking ahead, I am most interested in supporting leaders as they navigate the human implications of AI. As these technologies reshape how work is done, the hardest questions are not technical. They are about how roles change, how decisions are made, and how trust is maintained through periods of transition.

At Wayfinders, my role is to help leaders translate these challenges into concrete action. This means grounding change in how organizations operate today, while also intentionally redesigning processes for their future. It involves helping leaders rethink how work is structured and how teams operate so change can be sustained over time. My experience across consulting and technology has shown me that this is where transformation often succeeds or stalls.

By focusing on execution and change management, I aim to help clients move from uncertainty to confidence as they adopt AI in their core operations.

Creating value beyond business

I see my work at Wayfinders as contributing to a broader conversation about how technology shapes work and society. My experience across consulting and sustainability has shown me that AI creates the most value when it is grounded in real organizational needs. When solutions are designed to deliver clear economic value, they are more likely to be net positive for both society and the environment. This means being thoughtful about where AI is applied and how it is governed.

For me, creating value beyond business is about supporting adoption that enables more inclusive growth and stronger institutions. It matters to me that the benefits reach beyond individual organizations to the communities and environment we all depend on.
