Efforts to Utilize Intellectual Property for Co-creation

Utilization of Intellectual Property to Solve Social Issues

By offering this kind of licensing scheme, the Fujitsu group plans to further explore opportunities to accelerate solutions to social issues.
In November 2023, Fujitsu agreed to license its Topological Data Analysis (TDA), a Fujitsu-developed AI technology that automatically creates an AI model for detecting abnormalities in time-series data, to US startup Delight Health, in exchange for rights to newly issued shares in the company. Under the license, Delight Health will use Fujitsu's TDA technology to establish an advanced delirium detection system currently under development that accurately predicts the onset of delirium, to help patients suffering from delirium, a serious condition that affects the elderly in particular.

FUJITSU Technology Licensing Program™ for SDGs

To achieve a sustainable world through innovation, the Fujitsu Group is promoting the FUJITSU Technology Licensing Program™ for the SDGs initiative, which encourages companies and academic institutions to utilize intellectual property such as patents and know-how that contribute to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Fujitsu Group is committed to making our technologies widely available in society and to contributing to environmental conservation, people's well-being, and economic growth through collaboration via the WIPO GREEN framework for the transfer of technologies related to the environment; intellectual property matching activities among national and local governments, financial institutions, and universities; education on intellectual property creation in collaboration with educational institutions; and utilization of brand and design for an inclusive society. We see continuing such initiatives as contributing to the formation of various intangible assets, such as the reputation of the Fujitsu Group in global society and incentives for employee innovation.

WIPO GREEN (The SDGs)

promotion of Collaboration with Global Companies to Achieving the SDGs

With the aim of achieving the SDGs, we are promoting co-creation with global companies. Since September 2017, we have participated in WIPO GREEN, a framework operated by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) to support the transfer of technologies related to the environment. As one of the initial core members (12 companies and organizations worldwide), we have made strategic recommendations on WIPO GREEN's action policies and have registered a number of technologies in the WIPO GREEN database.

In addition, as efforts by our company to achieve the SDGs, based on our WIPO GREEN activities and WIPO GREEN's needs, we hold Companywide e-learning sessions and in-house workshops on the SDGs.
