- Fujitsu's history is one of overcoming challenges -
Fujitsu was founded in 1935 as a communications equipment manufacturer. Since that, we have inherited a mindset of pursuing technological innovation. Fujitsu developed the first automatic relay computer in Japan by applying telephone exchange technology. Fujitsu's optical submarine telecommunication systems have reached a total length of over five times the circumference of the globe. Don't the fruits of our predecessors' wisdom and technologies seem as fresh to your eyes today as they did then? Please look back over the course of Fujitsu's history.

Relay-type Automatic Computer
Fujitsu developed Japan’s first practical automatic relay computer in 1954 based on the technology we had gained through relay telephone exchanges.
The FACOM138A exhibited here was manufactured in 1960 as mid-sized relay computer used for scientific calculations.
