Manufacturing

In the factory, AI integrates order forecasts, expected raw material arrivals, equipment status, worker shifts and energy prices in real time, then simulates thousands of production plans in a digital twin. It evaluates quality risks and costs, identifies the best plan, and explains to engineers why that plan is appropriate.
What matters here is explainability. Causal AI does not simply suggest that “there is an issue in this process.” Instead, it identifies causal relationships between events and explains the reason clearly, for example: “When the temperature rose by two degrees for 0.5 seconds in the second process on machine No. 3, the defect rate for this pattern increased by 80%.” Rather than accepting AI decisions without understanding the rationale, people can verify AI recommendations and combine them with frontline expertise to drive improvement.
Factories can be dangerous environments so physical safety is critical. When many pieces of equipment are operating at once, it is unacceptable for AI to receive unauthorized instructions or for control to be taken over through a cyberattack. Preventing this requires AI to be secure and ethical, while also ensuring sovereign control. Technologies that protect AI itself, together with enterprise large language models (LLMs) that can be used in private environments, support this kind of implementation.

Logistics

Manufactured products then move into the logistics network. AI reads factory shipment schedules, warehouse inventory, road conditions and driver availability in real time, while continuously optimizing delivery routes, loading sequences and CO2 emissions in a digital twin.
If an accident occurs, AI does more than reconfigure the delivery plan. It predicts which warehouse may become congested several hours later, which stores are likely to face stockouts, and which products should be prioritized for delivery. Autonomous delivery vehicles and warehouse robots then move according to the updated plan. People make the final decision, weighing the options presented by AI against cost, delivery time and customer impact.
Connectivity is what makes this cycle possible. Only when real-world data is continuously reflected in the digital twin can AI identify the best action based on the latest conditions. A network that connects real-time data and delivers it with low latency to where it is needed becomes the nervous system of Physical AI.

Stores

When products reach stores, AI and robots handle time-consuming, labor-intensive work such as inventory checks, inspection and replenishment.
The real value is not simply that work becomes easier. It is that human time can be reinvested in creating better customer experiences. Staff no longer need to spend as much time checking inventory. Instead, they can focus on the customer interactions only people can provide: making recommendations tailored to customer preferences, creating store displays connected to local communities, and sharing the stories behind products. Stores evolve from places where goods are bought and sold into places where customer relationships are strengthened.
Sustainability is essential here. To keep AI running continuously across many stores, companies must address cost and power consumption challenges. Logistics priorities are influenced by factory quality data. Logistics delay forecasts change store promotion plans. Shifts in store demand feed back into the next production plan. The more this cycle turns, the more the enterprise becomes an organization that learns and continues to evolve.
