Fujitsu's History (Chronology) ( - 1960)
Since founded back in 1935 as a telecommunication equipment company, Fujitsu has contributed to society by solving customer problems through its technological capabilities. Here is a brief overview of our progress.
June 1935
FUSI TSUSHINKI SEIZO K.K. (currently Fujitsu Limited) established as an offshoot of Fuji Electric's Communications Division
(Corporate logo 1935-1961)
Used the logo of Fuji Electric, the parent company at the time.
The design was a combination of Furukawa's "f" and Germany's Siemens' "S," from which Fuji Electric derives its name.
September 1938
Completed new plant in Kawasaki (now site of Fujitsu Technology Park). Relocates company from Fuji Electric's Kawasaki plant
1939
Ventured into radio transmission field
1940
Delivered Japan's first domestically produced "T-type" automatic switching system to Japanese Ministry of Post
December 1945
At the end of WWII, Fuji Tsushinki's Type 3 telephone set was approved as official telephone by Ministry of Post, and it helped restore Japan's telecommunications infrastructure devastated by the War
May 1949
Listed company's stock on the newly reopened Tokyo Stock Exchange
1953
Computer for settlement of stock transactions developed (experimental model)
March 1954
Announced miniaturized M-type carrier device and contributed to Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Public Corporation-led postwar reconstruction of communications infrastructure
October 1954
Announced Japan's first relay type computer, the FACOM100
1956
Announced FACOM128A scientific computer (the Fujitsu's first commercial computer)
October 1958
Opened Japan's first computer showroom in Hibiya in central Tokyo
